How they met:
Bovier and I met in the summer of 2000. Bovier had started his lawn care business. My grandmother was one of his first customers.

I saw him cutting the grass and asked her who he was. He had also asked her about me. We were each dating other people at the time.

As he continued to cut my grandma’s then my mom’s grass, we would chat and talk on the phone about our relationships. I would give him advice kind of like the movie “My Best Friend’s Wedding.”

On Friday the 13th July 2007, thought of as a day of bad luck, we went on our first date. For us, it was a day that the stars and everything else was in perfect alignment. I discovered that he was my soul-mate. Seven years was our year of completion.

I later learned he always told my mom that he was going to make me his wife one day.
The moment they realized they wanted to be a couple for life:
I realized I wanted to be a couple for life after our first date at Center City Park in Greensboro which ended with our first kiss and talking all night until our cell phones died!!
The Proposal:
We discussed marriage but there was no ring. Every holiday and birthday I looked for a ring.

On August 16th 2009 he took me to Center City Park where we had our first date and where we shared our first kiss. To my surprise he officially popped the question!

I was the happiest woman on earth that day!!
The Wedding:
The wedding was non-traditional. My father walked me a third of the way down the aisle, my grandfather a third, and my mother, who raised me as a single parent, walked me the final third and gave me away.

Also, instead of a candle ceremony, we opted for a sand ceremony where our children and ourselves poured sand into a single vase representing the blending of our two families.

One of the best parts of my ceremony was having the harpist from my grandmother’s church play the prelude, processional, and recessional for my wedding. The harp is such a beautiful instrument. It also helped to launch her business as a professional harpist.

My cousin officiated which was also very special.

The reception was fabulous. We had a dancer who danced for us and our guests to Usher and Will I Am’s song “OMG”. Our first dance was to “At Last” by Etta James sung by Crystal Thornton former news correspondent for Fox 8 News.

We had a beautiful ice sculpture that had our theme of two hearts and our names on it.
The Honeymoon:
We booked our honeymoon through Way to Go Travel and cruised on Carnival to Cozumel Mexico and the Florida Keys. We also spent half a day at South Beach in Miami.
Their Plans:
Our future plans are to just live, love and laugh for the rest of our lives!!!
Advice to Others:
Start two years ahead, pay as you go so that you can have a debt free wedding, and get a Planner and follow it to a tee!!!
