How they met:
It's funny how Mick and I met. We both started Winthrop in 2003. I was an incoming freshman and he was a transfer student. We saw each other around campus all the time, but never spoke to each other.

We officially met at South Carolina State's Homecoming around October or November 2003. I was with my girls and he was with his boys. I remember shaking his hand and looking into those gorgeous green eyes! I knew that he would be mine.

After meeting at State, we partied together and spoke around campus but still no dating. In February 2004, around Mick's birthday, it snowed. School was cancelled and everybody decided to throw snowballs at one another.

I can remember it like yesterday...someone threw a snowball at me and Mick made a big snowball with his big gloves and protected me! Cheesy, right!

After the snowball fight, Mick and his friends had a party in the dorm rooms. That is when we decided to start dating. We have been together ever since! On September 25, 2004, Mick officially asked me to be his girlfriend. Yes he said "Tiffany will you be my girlfriend?" I made him do it!
The moment they realized they wanted to be a couple for life:
I guess I’ve always known I wanted to be a couple for life the moment I met him. We just clicked. We balance each other and make each other better. When you know, you just know.
The Proposal:
Our engagement is truly a memorable one! On May 9, 2009, I graduated from Winthrop University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance.

Mick decided to throw me a surprise graduation party. When I got to our apartment, all of my family and his family was there waiting on me. Our apartment was too small to hold everyone comfortably so we decided to move the party to the park… which Mick was opposed to because he had the proposal planned in his head and being at the park was not a part of the plan. I was confused on why he was so upset.

After eating and enjoying each other's company at the park, we returned to our apartment for a more intimate gathering. I opened my gifts and read each and every card. Mick gave me his gift in the middle which was a 5 day cruise to the Western Caribbean. I thought that was all he got me.

After opening the gifts, we went around the room and our families congratulated me and said what was on their heart. There was not a dry eye in the room.

After everyone said their part, it was Mick's turn. He said "I really do appreciate everybody coming out tonight. You could have been anywhere in the world, but you would not have been as happy as you are right now... I just want to say that I'm proud of you. It's been a hard road like my mom said earlier. You know? I love you. You're my baby. And..I want to spend the rest of my life with you."

Then he reached into his pocket. I was like "uh uh. No you're not!" I turned and faced his cousin, Adrienne, and just started crying on her shoulder. Both our families started screaming, clapping, and jumping up and down! It was crazy!

Adrienne turned me around and Mick slowly got down on one knee. He took my hand and asked me if I would marry him. I quietly said yes because I had that hard part in my throat from trying to hold back tears! Then, our families started hugging each other as well as us. It was funny and kind of weird at the same time.

Mick, myself, and our families were all crying! It was truly a day to remember!!!
The Wedding:
The day before and the day after our wedding, it rained. But on our wedding day, it was beautiful and sunny…all we could have asked for.

Our wedding had a South Beach, Miami nightlife theme. The colors were coral, turquoise and eggplant. We are very non-traditional people so we catered our wedding around our personalities and what we wanted.

Before the wedding, we had a moment to ourselves. We took “First Look” photos. We were able to see each other for the first time before our ceremony to enjoy each other before we became husband and wife. The feeling is indescribable but one of the best feelings I’ve ever had.

He walked down the aisle right before I did. We wrote our own vows and my mom walked me down the aisle. We had a sand ceremony and had 2 best men.

After our first dance, I dance with my mom and my brother and then he salsa’ed with his mom. We did everything our way and that’s what made our day very special and one we will never forget.
The Honeymoon:
We honeymooned at Sandals Ocho Rios in Jamaica. Everything about our honeymoon was perfect! All the food we wanted, all the alcohol we wanted and much sunshine.

We went to the pool everyday! We kayaked, climbed a waterfall, partied and snorkeled (although I can’t swim) oh, and a fish bit my butt! I felt more in love with my husband than I ever have before. It was truly paradise.
Their Plans:
Well, because we are non-traditional, we bought our first home together May 2009 (before we were married) so we can check that off the list. We are enjoying our lives together and traveling the US. We plan to have children in the next 3 years or so.
Advice to Others:
Save, plan ahead and get a planner/coordinator to help bring everything together and work with your vendors about one month before the wedding. You will save money and have the wedding you dream of. On your wedding day, take everything in because all that time you spent planning goes by with the snap of a finger.
