Skylar White and John O’Neil are pleased to announce their plans to wed on October 16, 2010.

Skylar, the daughter of  David & Linda White, is a native of Charlotte, NC. She is employed in the insurance field.

John, the son of Tom O’Neil, Barbara & C.J.  O’Neil, is a native of Hudson, FL.  He is self employed.

They currently reside in the Lake Wylie area.

Skyler and John met December 11, 2008. “Yes I remember it” states Skylar.

“One of my close girlfriends kept telling me that she wanted to introduce me to one of her friends.  I had just gotten out of a serious relationship a few months prior so I didn’t really see the point in meeting anyone.

“A few months went by and she asked again. I finally gave in, telling her that I at least wanted to see pictures and she had to be there when we met. I didn’t want it to be completely awkward.

“When the big day arrived, I spent the entire day sick, laying on my couch trying to get the energy to do anything,  let alone get ready for blind date! I almost called to cancel but decided against it. I dragged myself upstairs and got myself ready.

“She picked me up and we met at a little place in Tega Cay, SC.  I couldn’t believe how nervous I was. Why was I so nervous?

“We sat down, introduced ourselves…and pretty much,  that was it. We spent the entire night talking.  I saw him the next night and he came into see me at work a few times to watch football. I was smitten! I couldn’t get enough, and I think it went both ways. The rest was history!”

They became engaged on October 1, 2009.

“We were on a cruise with 2 other couples headed to Cozumel, Mexico.  It was our first night on the cruise and after dinner, we went to a comedy show.  He and I were both not very impressed, but the others seemed to be having a good time, so he asked if I wanted to go to the casino and meet up with everyone else after the show.

“ We left the show and started walking towards the casino. A few minutes later I realized that we had passed the casino and told him. He said, “I know, I figured we could go to the front of the ship.”

“At this point, I still had absolutely no idea what he was up to, so I followed his lead up to the front of ship.  It was beautiful out there. It was pitch black and all we could see was the moon reflecting off of the water.

“We were both leaning on the rail, just talking about how good it felt to be on vacation and how beautiful it was up there.  All of a sudden I realized I was talking to myself and he had left my side.

“I turned around to see where he had gone and saw him down on one knee with a ring box open!!! He asked if I was ready to spend the rest of my life with him and would I marry him!

“I think I asked a few time if he was serious. I was crying but I jumped on him and said YES! It was the best experience of my life and I remember every detail.

“The best part was that none of our friends knew what was going on, so we got to go back to the show and let everyone know!!!

“I hadn’t a clue that he was planning this, but apparently it had been in the making since we booked the cruise!! It was the perfect timing, with the perfect setting, with the perfect man! Oh yeah, not to mention, the ring is AMAZING. It’s something I never imagined. Everyone can’t get over that he picked it out himself.

“It was the best day of my life, until October 16th when I’m officially Mrs. John O’Neil”
