Tanesha Manigo and Marc Brown are pleased to announce their intent to marry on September 17, 2011.
Tanesha, the daughter of Thomas and Dollie Manigo, is a native of Brooklyn, NY, currently residing in Charlotte, NC. She is an Education Specialist with Great Clips.
Marc, the son of Edward and Patricia Brown, is a native of Charleston, SC, where he still resides. He is a Senior Airman with the United States Air Force Reserves and a Corporal Police Officer.
Tanesha and Marc met on May 16, 2009 at Playdate in Charlotte.
“My older brother, Ed, had been telling me that this was great event for meeting a lot of women,” states Marc. “I had a weird feeling that I would meet Mrs. Brown there but I kept it to myself in hopes of not jinxing it.
When we got there I was scanning the room and I saw Tanesha sitting at a table. I asked one of the guys I was with who she was and he told me he only knew the girl next to her.
I stared at her for a while, waiting for her to walk by herself so I could approach her. I finally got tired of waiting and went closer to her table and she invited me to play Phase Ten. I didn’t care about the game, I just wanted her number and finally I asked her for it and she said yes.
Two weeks later she came to Charleston for work and we went out. “
Tanesha almost didn’t go to Playdate on that day in September.
“I was returning from working in Greenville that week and was really tired,” states Tanesha. “The ticket was already purchased so I decided to go on.
I was sitting at a table playing Phase Ten with Stacey and a few other ladies. After playing a few rounds, I looked up to see this guy staring at me from across the table. I looked away, then back, and away again, noting that his gaze never broke.
Assuming he was interested, I smiled a little, but not too much, just in case I was reading him wrong. After awhile, Stacey leaned over to me and said 'Why don’t you ask that guy to sit down because he’s been staring at you for awhile.'
He came over and chatted with us as I pretended to show him how to play the game even though this was my first time ever hearing of this game. I was really interested in him and was happy that he asked for my number. He called the next day"
“I thought she was gorgeous and I loved the way she carried herself," states Marc. “She dressed very nice, classy but also very sexy. She wasn’t one of those girls that forced outfits on that they had no business wearing. I also loved her attitude toward life, her personality. She was very kind yet she was strong in her faith," recalls Marc.
“I was attracted to the fact that he was a true gentleman, focused on the details of making a girl feel special,” states Tanesha. “During our first date, I could tell that he took time to plan an evening that I would remember forever. I didn’t feel like he was attempting to iimpress me, instead he was showing me who he really was…genuinely.”
“I knew I wanted to marry her before I left for the Air Force Reserves,” adds Marc. “I kept thinking about it and wondering if I was making the right choice, but I knew in my heart that she was the one for me. I’m not perfect and she isn’t either, but we’re perfect together. She was all I was looking for and on September 4, 2010 I proposed.
I came up to Charlotte for the proposal. On the drive up I was frantically thinking of a way to propose.
We were going to dinner that evening, but I thought if I propose then, she may cry. I called my friends for advice. I called her sister who didn’t answer the phone, so I had to wing it.
I walked in the house and she was frantically looking for something. When she said 'I’m always losing something,' I got down on one knee and said 'You better not lose this.' Then I asked her to marry me.
Although she was initially a bit confused, she said yes."
Tanesha and Marc responded to our contest asking viewers to share their love story. We hope they never lose the love, joy and devotion expressed in their story. They are the winners of an intimate dinner for two prepared and served by their own personal chef, courtesy of Howard & Howard Events and Chef Services.
