Donna M. Jones and Maurice A. Taylor are pleased to announce their plans to wed on April 30, 2011.

Donna, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Donald L. Jones, is a native of Winston Salem, N.C., residing in Charlotte. Her alma mater is the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is a claims adjuster and artist.

Maurice, the son of Mr. Edwin Taylor and Veronica Patterson, is a native of Lexington, Ky. His alma mater is the University of Kentucky and he is an owner/barber and accountant.

Maurice and Donna met on August 2, 2008 at the Bronner Brothers Hair Show in Atlanta, Ga.

Donna has much to celebrate on February 14. Not only is it Valentine’s Day, it is also her birthday. February 14, 2010 is also the day she became engaged to Maurice.

The day before her 29th birthday, Maurice had flown in from Kentucky and taken Donna to dinner with her closest friends and family. As Donna was thanking their guest for coming, Maurice was secretly asking them to meet him the following evening at Donna’s favorite restaurant.

Upon arriving at Fleming’s Steakhouse the next evening, Donna noticed that a few extra chairs were at the table. When Maurice told her he was expecting a few of their friends to drop by, Donna settled down to wait and began playing blackjack on her cell phone.

Maurice asked her to give him the phone, but she refused. He took the phone from her hands while saying “You know I love you, right?” and asked her to stand.

As Donna stood up, she noticed lots of camera flashes. She immediately started to cry. Maurice, meanwhile, had gotten down on one knee and was asking her to marry him. Her mother and closest friends were there, standing behind him.

Donna says: “Words can’t describe my feelings at that moment, but it felt so good…Whoa! The man that I am in love with had just asked me to be his wife.”
